Auxospores

About

I have lately been exploring how my OCD intertwines with my artwork. Constantly, I find myself creating puzzles in my art for myself to work through, like a rat creating its own maze. I am fascinated by biomorphism, biology, form, symmetry, and mathematical formulas as an art form. The name "Auxospores" comes from specialized cells in algae that are produced at key stages in their cell cycle or life history. Auxospores typically play a role in growth processes, reproduction, or dormancy. I the personification of this algae represents the way I create rabbit holes in my mind that are microscopic in meaning but consume all my time. Distress often leads to derealization and a desire to be fixed to a path instead of having the ability to make decisions. I think the anatomy of these auxospores functions as a soothing concept for an overactive mind.

I seek to understand the mazes I have created in my mind with art. To recreate reflections by hand, to render with no aid. I think the human mind in art is free when untethered to conventions or tools.

I seek to use art as a meditation tool rather than a window. Every piece of my work remains in a pure, raw form that I see more as a texture of emotion rather than a mere image. I believe all senses should be involved in art. I also believe that disgust plays a role in important artwork. Some of my most evil intrusive thoughts have shaped me as an artist.
